Flag Beacon (flagbeacon.com) is run by Pearson Smart Homes LLC. We collect as little as we can, use it only to send the alerts you ask for, and never sell it.

What we collect

• Email alerts: your email address and the states you choose.
• Text alerts: your mobile number, email address and states, and the status of your subscription. Payment details go straight to Link, the checkout service of our payment provider Stripe, which sells text alerts as the seller of record; we never see or store your card. Link's own privacy policy covers what it collects at checkout.
• Visiting the site: your browser remembers the state you last picked, and the site or link that first brought you here; if you sign up, that goes with your sign-up so we can see what's working. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you. Our host tells us roughly which state your connection comes from so we can show that state's flag; we don't store it. Our providers keep standard server logs.
• Widgets on other sites: a Flag Beacon widget loads today's status from us when someone views that page. It sets no cookies, and we don't track who sees it. We do note which sites show one, by the site's address alone.

How we use it

To send the alerts you signed up for, the welcome and confirmation messages that go with them, and receipts and renewal notices for text alerts (sent by Link), and to answer you when you write to us. We don't send marketing.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party.

Companies that run parts of the service for us handle data only to do that job: Convex (our database), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), Stripe and Link (payments and sales tax), Telnyx (text messages), Cloudflare (web infrastructure) and Clerk (sign-in for our own staff). We also use OpenAI to read official government pages; it never receives your information. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Until you unsubscribe or your text alerts end. After that we keep only what we need to honor your choice (for example, that a number replied STOP), and Stripe and Link keep billing records as the law requires. To have your information deleted, email help@flagbeacon.com.

Children

Flag Beacon isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
